I usually don’t share anything that could be traced to my personal job too much, but I want to officially share the launch of my new website. This is my new business venture that I have started in Singapore, it is an online beauty and women accessories website, because being beautiful is a woman’s lifelong career!
So, I have actually been online non-stop everyday trying to jumpstart the website with my colleagues, but have absolutely no life… so nothing exciting to note on my personal blog, aside from walking my dog, eating durian, weekly brunch with some gals; the rest of the time, I’m sitting in front of the computer doing what computer geeks do ^0^
So why the word Muka…that’s a funny story, I was sitting at home trying to think of a possible name for the website that’s not super corny or the word is already in use. I looked over at my tissue box and it says the word MUKA on it, it actually means “face” in Malay. I know it means face because it says “soft facial tissue” in English on top . ^^ Anyway, I like the sound of the word and many people might think it’s Japanese too!
Finally another reason I like the word a lot is because depending on where you are from, the way you pronounce it is different. If you’re from North America, you will most likely be pronouncing it as “moo-ka”; whereas if you’re from England or not American, you will be calling it “mill-ka”. So how do you pronounce my website’s name? I really don’t care because just like beauty, there is no defined definition. Just go with the flow, pronounce it however you like, so long as you know how to get there! And THAT is why I am totally passionate about the word.
Alright, if you happen to stumble onto my blog or if you follow my blog, do me a favor and like my fan page on Facebook, please!!!! www.facebook.com/mukabeauty! Please also force all your friends to fan it too!
Until next time, it’ll be about my little adventures and Pretzel’s craziness!
How can you not laugh, chuckle, or go “awwwwww…..” at these cute doggy pictures.
Even though my little pretzel is a lot smaller, he is just as crazy when he panicked! Once on a trip, I left him at my friend's house and when she went out to do some grocery shopping, she left pretzel in a bedroom. When she came home and opened the bedroom door, Pretzel is busy chewing on the wall trying to dig his way out! Every time I visit, I am invited to visit that bedroom and look at the hole she refused to patch to share the story
awwwww, how cute!
lol, this is too cute! I can see pretzel doing this
yes! blame someone else...run & hide!
Hi! I'm pretzel, I'm cute too! I can smile!
Kusu island is a very small island about 20 minutes off Singapore. It is known for two things
if you come to kusu island just to look at the temple and tortoise, it would be a very boring trip
There are tortoise and temples everywhere, there is no need to take a 20 minute boat ride to look at it on Kusu Island. So in order to have fun, explore the little island, whcih takes around 20 minutes, haha. But also consider these great and fun activities!
take a walk along the sandy beach and a dip in the water
be an artist and create some sand artwork
enjoy a picnic or bbq with friends
climb up to the top of the island and receive a blessing from the two residents of a malay temple
act silly and become tarzan
This small island doens’t have a lot of visitors, so it’s great to spend some quiet and peaceful time close to nature. It has some great scenic views.
very cool trees found on this island, shaped like a fan
I was reading a fellow blogger website the other day on ghost stories, since it is close to Halloween and all, so I am in the mood to share too. There are no ghosts or haunted houses that give me the creeps, what scare me merely are images in my head I concocted from little snippets of stories my mom like to tell me when I was a child, to scare me into behaving and acting the way she wants me to, and I carried these horror tales with me to this day.
As I child, my mom keeps telling me that if my blanket doesn’t cover my hands and feet, someone will come in the middle of the night and steal my limbs. OK, that is not scary, but it leave an impact on me as a child that affected me throughout my life. I always always always have a blanket completely covering me when I sleep at night. So I live in Singapore and Hong Kong and the weather is very hot and humid, I just closed all the windows and turn the AC onto frigid just to cover myself completely with a blanket. Not just that, I have to make sure the blanket roll inwards to completely cover my feet. I can only imagine the reason for doing this is because of my mother….
There are other tales I am sure lots of Asians heard of as children, which is that if we don’t completely eat all the grains of rice in our bowls, we will end up getting dots and spots in our face. I don’t have dots and spots on my face, but I certainly break-out easily….
Haha, I actually don’t have any ghost stories to share, the one that left an impression on me is women that dress in bright red dresses with their lips and nails painted bright red wearing a pair of red heels plunging down buildings with unblinking eyes on “ghost day”. It doesn’t sound scary, the image I create in my head is very detailed and it gives me the creeps because these women choose this day to jump buildings so they could come back in the next life to take revenge. It has been said that if you take your life in this fashion on “ghost day”, you have the most spiteful soul filled with hate and anger because you have been framed or done injustice, thus when you “die” this way you will return a very powerful ghost to right what has been wronged to you. Shudder….
Wow! 7 years old gospel singer sensation Rhema Marvanne has a captivatingly spell- bounding voice, amazing talent, wow!
I have chosen two of her singing to share, one is my all time favorite, “amazing grace”, and the other one is “the prayer”.
The last time I was in Macau, I spent majority of time munching of freebie foods:
This time around, I decided to pay for food, lol. I came to Macau to watch the “Dancing Water Performance” at City of Dreams in the evening. What better way to spend a hot afternoon than hopping in and out of shops and restaurants while eating and chomping on local, famous, and delicious foods?
famous napolean tarts
if i don't have to leave room for lots of other foods to come, i'd chow down on more than one
famous pork chop bun
chicken fin soup, it has a type of collagen aftertaste i really like
this is fried frog legs, i like how there is a lemon zest
omg, this dish of fried squid balls was so so so good! hot and crispy on the outside nad chewy and bouncy on the inside
the famous crab congee, my friend couldn't stop munching on the crab and eating up on the congee/porridge

The really cool and interesting looking Fisherman Wharf in Macau has recently opened and has attracted lots of visitors, but it’s way too hot to thoroughly explore it right now. Definitely planning on visiting it extensively comes October, though I was able to get some great shots of this strip before its grand opening and it looks awesome!
I think all little girls want to become the princesses that are depicted in Walt Disney fairy tales, myself included. My favorite fairy tale is the story of Cinderella. During the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton, I have to witness that special moment between a prince and a commoner. Haha, that is the day I realize the last name of prince William, at least Kate has a last name from day one.
A friend of mine posted this picture on Facebook and I love it! Just have to share, hahaha,
- yes, that’s a boob, just hanging out, this is Italy
- seriously, this is uncensored TV in Italy
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has a message for everyone:
“The human face holds a message: total vulnerability. That is why we hide it, change it, embellish or modify it even with surgery. This explains why it is so hard to accept one’s own face: it is like looking at an image of total vulnerability. How can we remain vulnerable and ourselves, in a world where you can only win if you are thoroughly invulnerable? This is a tough choice for women! Invincible amongst the winners or vulnerable and forgotten? Vulnerability, however, is the most fascinating aspect of a face.
