I am beyond disgusted and being Chinese, I still need to say this, what is wrong with people in China? WHy would you even come up with this? Why are people drinking this? Why are people proud to be able to purchase this? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???!!!
“The Baby Soup is called in the local jargon ‘Spare Rib Soup’ and is not available on a daily basis. The reporter who originally wrote the article in Chinese said that he had to wait a couple of weeks until a baby was available. A couple who had two daughters already had a third pregnancy which they aborted when they found out at 5 months it was again a girl. So they contacted the restaurant and sold their aborted daughter. Babies which are close to term (i.e. 9 months) cost 2,000 yuan (about US$ 290) The ones that are aborted earlier only cost a few hundred yuan (100 yuan is US 14.50) Just buying the placenta alone also costs a couple of hundred yuan (about US$ 30)
Shocking news circulated in China. A town in Canton is now on trend taking baby herbal soup to increase health and sexual performance/stamina. The cost in China currency = approx $ 4000. A factory manager was interviewed and he testified that it is effective because he is a frequent customer. It is a delicacy whereby expensive herbs are added to boil the baby with chicken meat for 8 hours boiling/steaming. He pointed to his second wife next to him, who is 19 (he is 62), and testified that they have sex everyday.
Warning: photos are extremely disturbing and horrifying.

This is so wrong. This is cannibalism, pure and simple. And isn’t that against the law? Even in China? Shouldn’t the govt be doing sth? Or are they into drinking this vile thing too?
this occured in a particular region in CHina, not across the whold country, and it’s truly distrubing and beyond “wrong” in so many ways
hi bonnie, it’s an urban myth.

i dunoOooO, i wouldn’t be overly shocked/surprised that it’s real considering they do eat monkey brains with the monkey still alive, giving customers rodents to eat instead of pigeons, or scraping grease from sewers and using it as cooking oil…
Me neither. But, myth or no myth, it’s a terrible terrible idea…
Their reputation is already down the drain with the examples you listed above, the country still has a long way to go polishing its name in the global safe food scene…..Sigh.
I wouldnt be surprised either.
Why do people kill innocent babies they dont have the fault that is wrong especially eating the baby that is desconting. All the people that abort there baby are so stupid why would you abort when theres alot of women who like to be pregnant, they would love to have a baby and feel the live of the baby. I just dont understand the people anymore, all those who aborted should not be forgiven by God….
sorry to say but this is no myth…it has been proven that it is real..proime example os that one of my friends upon visiting china ordered this meal and took pictures of it as proof of this being real therefore all non believers open your eyes and realize that they are eating our future generation
This story is a racist Internet hoax. I have covered it on my blog many times.

I know some readers of this thread have found Ethical Martini because the traffic from Singapore has been huge for the past few days.
Please forward these links and do not be part of this blood libel against Chinese people.

It seems that some people cannot accept that this so-called news ‘story’ is a steaming bowl of racist crap, not real babies in soup.
I am always gob-smacked when the traffic to my ‘herbal soup’ thread jumps.
In the last couple of days I have tracked this back to Singapore.
It surfaces regularly. Same photos from Xu Yu and same blood libel jibber jabber.
Even when some sane soul points out that the whole thing is fake some dribblejaws continue to want to believe it.
I’m still waiting for you to acknowledge my comments.
Are you going to post them?
I know censorship in Singapore is tough, but surely as an expat you can see reason.

Oh I just haven’t logged into my blog for a long time
