It has always bugged me when I realized my sister is sick and she decided to “wait it out” instead of going to see a doctor. The mentality is that her system can kick out the bugs and she will be up and running again in no time! I totally do not think people should run to the doctors will every little boo boo, but after a few days with no improvement, clearly a dose of antibiotics is a good idea.
The table is turned this week and I totally got bitten by the flu bug, in a nasty way. I don’t even remember the last time I had the fever or the sore throat, and suddenly, I possessed both. Seriously, it must have been at least 10+ years since the last time I have gotten such a bad flu. I believe I don’t need to see a doctor because I firmly believe my strong immune system can quickly destroy the bugs. Argh, after 2 days of discomfort with a parched throat that makes swallowing painful and close to losing my voice, I succumbed to some over-the-counter pills.
Today, it is day four of my sick journey, and my sore throat is close to diminishing, but I have an itchy throat that makes me keep coughing. A touch of headache has slowly resurfaced from all the coughing. Whenever I cough or blow my nose (when it is not stuffed), there are yellow phlegm I bundled up into a wonton will my tissue paper. If so much yuckies are coming out of my system, that means I am getting better right? Let’s delay seeing a doctor for another day…
